A prominent Philadelphia attorney and Hillary Clinton supporter filed suit this afternoon in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Illinois Sen. Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee. The action seeks an injunction preventing the senator from continuing his candidacy and a court order enjoining the DNC from nominating him next week, all on grounds that Sen. Obama is constitutionally ineligible to run for and hold the office of President of the United States.
Phillip Berg, the filing attorney, is a former gubernatorial and senatorial candidate, former chair of the Democratic Party in Montgomery (PA) County, former member of the Democratic State Committee, and former Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania. According to Berg, he filed the suit--just days before the DNC is to hold its nominating convention in Denver--for the health of the Democratic Party.
Michelle has given me an opening to start blogging this event. Of course, Micelle's column is about LtCol Bill Russell, candidate for the 12th District of Pennsylvania, but since Somerset is in the 12th, the segue works.
On Saturday 2 August, at 1000 hours in Somerset PA, a hearing will held on the proposed design of the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, PA. We are encouraging all Americans who oppose the design as submitted to be in Somerset on 2 August to lend support to Alec Rawls in his effort to eliminate all aspects of Islam and muslim symbology from the proposed design.
If you watch the video I have linked above, you will see the current Flight 93 Memorial as it was in 2006. This memorial is being built by freedom loving people who understand the heroic efforts made by the passengers on Flight 93 that bright September morning.
No matter where you were, or what you were doing during those three hours, the events of that day affected you. Nothing since has been the same. To even consider a design that looks remotely like it contains islamic symbols is spitting on the memory of the 41 ordinary Americans who became extraordinary heroes in the space of hours. Faced with the certainty of their own death, they acted to save the lives of tens of thousands of Americans.
Their memory should be preserved with a design befitting their sacrifice.
My good friend Big Bill from Somerset, who has been tireless in his efforts to bring attention to the despicable atrocity the proposed Flight 93 Memorial is, (and it IS atrocious and a slap in the face of the brave men and women aboard Flight 93), informed me that last night, the assclown posse marched to the Recruiting Center, saw the Eagles and Patriots standing watch and turned tail AND RAN AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Way to go Pittsburgh Eagles!!!!!!! I guess maybe their little plan of evicting the Recruiters and putting them in cages wasn't really all that important after all.
The moonbats and asshats are threatening another Recruiting Center, this time with direct threats of destruction and violation of civil rights and unlawful detention.
Evict the military recruitment station, cage the recruiters!
When: Wednesday, March 19
Rally: 6:00pm
March: Departs at 6:30pm for the Military Recruiting Station
Where: Meet at the dinosaur sculpture in front of Carnegie Library (4400 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213)
This March 19 hundreds of cities across the U.S. will hold events to mark the anniversary of the war in Iraq and remember the tragic toll the world has and continues to pay; nearly 4,000 U.S. soldiers killed, 30,000 wounded, at least 100,000 Iraqis killed, four million displaced, and nearly a trillion dollars squandered.
While there will be events in Washington, D.C. and elsewhere, members of Pittsburgh Organizing Group (POG) feel it is important that there be a local event connected to our community's long-standing, successful efforts to use education and action to oppose the war and undermine the militarism that leads to perpetual war(s).
On Wednesday, March 19, POG will be holding a torch-lit march to a modern day castle of abominations—our local military recruiting station. If the station remains open, we intend to evict it and everything inside of it, occupy the location, and transform it into something useful for the community. We'll also be bringing a movable cage in which to confine military recruiters until they no longer pose a danger to our friends and neighbors. Of course, the station may be closed and recruiters may flee or hide behind the police apparatus that enables the war to continue. That is often the case, and we've seen in the past the overwhelming resources the state directs against these anniversary events because of their importance as a symbol of dissent. We believe in acting effectively, in confronting the war, at times and places of our choosing. When the state brings the resources necessary to suppress direct action against the war, it makes sense to hold a symbolic protest, and we still consider that a success, as it exposes the reality that it is ultimately on the local level that our countries war policy will be decided.
The truth is, the anniversary of the war—much like symbolic casualty milestones—is not significant in and of itself. Just as each death is equally lamentable, so too is each day that we continue to engage in a brutal occupation, that we marginalize and repress progressive non-sectarian organizations, that we crack down on independent Iraqi trade unions, that we arm multiple "sides" of a conflict, that we work to maintain the economic advantage of U.S. corporations, that innocent Iraqis die, that the powerful operate with impunity. In short, each day we sacrifice more lives and resources in an endless, self-serving war, a cycle of violence and retribution.
But the anniversary has meaning for those who have suffered, for those who remember. And while the President will use the day to claim a new victory with new benchmarks on the horizon, we have an opportunity to present the people's story, a counter-narrative. When the body count of American deaths decreases, regardless of how many Iraqis die in our place, the media attention lessens and the politicians move on. But our responsibility to work for peace and justice remains.
It is our sincere hope that you will join us on March 19 if only to stand with others of similar good faith to show that there is dissent at home, and there is a common humanity that binds the people of the United States and Iraq—the desire to create and sustain a new world based on mutual understanding and solidarity.
For peace with justice,
In solidarity,
Pittsburgh Organizing Group

The Courthouse - Somerset, PA February 2, 2008 Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen, My name is Bill Steiner. I live in Mt. Pleasant, PA I come to Somerset today with the same deep respect and heavy heart that my wife and I carried here over 2 ½ years ago on Sunday July 31, 2005 when we came to see the five finalists in the Flight 93 Memorial design competition. We came with eager anticipation to experience each of the designs, knowing one of them would carry a most important final tribute forever into time and into the minds and hearts of all Americans. After only a few minutes in the display room, it was abundantly and unequivocally clear that the most well done design was horribly flawed with Islamic symbolism. We were truly dumbstruck that the main feature was a huge perfectly shaped Red Islamic Crescent and was called the “Crescent of Embrace”. We knew for certain that those two features alone were enough to cruelly taint this design and to make grossly inappropriate. My wife knew the “Crescent of Embrace” would be chosen as the winner because it was by far the most esthetically pleasing and was the most well done. After dropping a disapproving comment in the suggestion box, we came home and did our best to urgently sound the alarm to everyone we possibly could. Our mission was urgent, the choice was about to be made. Unfortunately, we find it necessary to come again today with the very same warning... that nothing substantive has been changed, except for a different name and with a few trees added to make the Crescent look like a circle. We find only cosmetic changes...a disguise...an alias and a beard. It is the same design we found in July 2005. While nothing much has been changed, much, much more has been found...noting the extensively documented discoveries and claims of my collaborator, Alec Rawls. Everyone in this room is familiar with this controversy. We are certainly not alone in our expressions of concern and dismay for what this design contains. Representative Tom Tancredo and family member Tom Burnett, Sr. have been very outspoken in calling for the design to be scrapped and another chosen. We certainly agree and so do many, many others. Thousands and thousands of our citizens are now fully aware that our claims have merit. Well over 95% of those with whom I share the design easily comprehend the inappropriate content and cannot understand why you would allow it to remain. Most all strongly ask, “Who is responsible for this design?” There is simply just too much of an obviously questionable nature contained in the Murdoch design to let it stand unchallenged. It must be fully, publicly, and most of all, independently, vetted. We are requesting an open, honest, properly constituted congressional investigation of what we have found. The victims of Flight 93 and their families deserve to have the air cleared so they can rest. The American people deserve to know completely the nature of what they are purchasing here as a memorial to this horrific tragedy and dastardly act of war. It must be a proper and fitting one with no hint or suggestion of anything Islamic involved, whatsoever. Please consider the consequences of allowing this flawed design to pass into our history and into perpetuity. We ask you to let the light shine in. Please let the American people know the details. Please let them decide. Thank you very much. End public comments. The simplest possible rationale for the above...
We find: Can all this be coincidental? The odds are certainly against it! Therefore, we conclude that... The Chosen Flight 93 Memorial Design is a Fraud Bill Steiner Mt.
